When I try to print to tape, I get the message that over 80 percent has to be prerendered. So, for a 30 minute programme, it will prerender 148 files and use over four hours befor it starts to print. Is this OK or am I doing something wrong?
if you have applied effects to any of your clips, they will have to be pre-rendered. also any transitions / composited areas will need to be pre-rendered.
to save time, make sure you apply effects at the clip level and not at the track level, unless you really need to affect the entire track.
yes...it can be right....and I'm betting that you have some "special effects" (e.g. slo-mo) in there. You will find, that it won't (probably) take anywhere near the predicted time....as soon as vv3 hits the slo-mo (as an example) it will "do" dozens (if not hundreds) of the "files" in a matter of a couple of minutes. This will cause your predicted time to fall like a rock. I rendered a video last night. The 80% message came up telling me I would have 347 files to render. After the 5th file (each of the 1st 5 took a couple of minutes) my predicted remaining time was over 6 hours. It then flew through files 6 thru 343 in about 4 minutes. Total rendering time...about 17 minutes.
