Help Audio Crackling

krank wrote on 10/3/2000, 2:03 PM
I have SoundForge 4.5 and Vegas Video installed with
default settings. I use a Lexicon Core32 audio interface.
My problem is that I can record smoothly from SoundForge
but the audio crackles when I record in Vegas Video. Also I
noticed that if I record something in 24 bit in Vegas, I
can't open it in SoundForge. So I went back and recorded it
in 16 bit it works. Also I noticed in the requirements you
need Win98SE - I have Win98 with all necessary patches. Is
that OK? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I think you're going to find the answer is you have to upgrade to
win98SE.
Also, sound forge doesn't support 24bit yet.
are you recording through the same inputs? Check your audio routing
page...

As Charles stated, you will be doing yourself a big favor by
upgrading to the "system requirements" before doing too much more
troubleshooting.

There can be many reasons for crackling and pops, from sample rates
and word clock settings to IRQ and resource conflicts. ... your video
card/subsystem can also be a reason. Since you can record fine in
SoundForge, you might want to try minnimizing the screen while
recording and see if the crackles persist.

That helped me out of a similar bind with VP when it came out last
year.

No guarantee, but certainly worth a shot.

Good luck.
