Help Digitizing PAL Video

Hello Everyone,

I've got a MiniDV tape shot on PAL. My Sony PC-9 (which is an NTSC Camera) will play the tape and I'm able to view it on the camera's display. However, I'm not able to get it in to Vegas. Any ideas? I just get a blank screen.

I think you need to tell VidCap to expect PAL. I'm surprised teh camera will even play it though, maybe it just wil not feed it down the 1394 port.

If all else fails beg/borrow/hire/steal a DSR -11, they'll do both, little slider switch on the back. Remember to set it back to NSTC for the next guy though

Farss, thanks for the point! Ididn't know the DSR 11 did both. I'll have to rent one for our next PAL output. Those dang Aussies, y'know!

As we say here, those damn Septic Tanks.
But seriously it's a pretty good machine, only issue is the flimsy door on the cassette well. We just about have a standing order for replacement parts with Sony. The reason I mentioned the switch is quite a few customers use them to record NTSC and if we don't remember to switch it back next customer has no end of dramas.
