Help! How do I create picture-in-picture effect?

This seems like a simple question but I sure can't figure it out. And yes, I'm a new user.

I have a short 29 second video clip that I'd like to insert and play as a picture-in-picture insert in the corner of my main video window while the rest of the video plays the "main clip". All I want to do is put a small rectangular overlay box somewhere in the main video window and then play a reduced-size version of another clip inside that box.

I've looked and looked in the help files and here in the forum but sure can't seem to figure out how to do this very basic thing. Can someone please tell me how or point me to a post here where the procedure for to do this is discussed?

Thanks!

Put your short video clip in the topmost track and use track motion to limit the video to whatever size you want it to be.

The main video clip would be on the 2nd video track. That should give you the effect you want.

Pretty much what mekelly said, except I on the top track, go to the end of the track and one of the Icons, when you hover your mouse, will say "Event Pan/Crop" . Click on that Icon and the Event Pan/Crop window will open. You'll see your video image surrounded by a dotted square. Hover your mouxe over the edge of the dotted line, when you see 2 arrows, drag that dotted square bigger, watch the view screen to see the size. When right size is acheived, place mouse within dotted square, but not on the image, you should see 4 arrows. Now drag the dotted sqaure until your window is where you want it. Ta da.

While you're there, grab all of them as they're an excellent resource.
