Help Inserting symbols onscreen

Trying to accomplish something simple but cannot find it, I have a picture in the video I scanned in and want to insert an arrow to use as a pointer while I talk about the item I am pointing to. However I cannot find a method of inserting symbols such as arrows, circles, etc. Do I have to create such things or are they available somewhere. Any help appreciated.

why not use the wingding fonts to make the arrow, then just animate track motion on the arrow?

Use the text generator. Instead of a letter font, use dingbats or wingdings or whatever you can find. There are heaps of good forms to use. Move them about with track motion and/or pan/crop and/or placement.

Look at some of my earlier posts (click on my name up tyhere where it says "posted by") and you'll see some good examples.
