Idea:
Doesn't the film FX have some jumping up and down? It does? Use that, plus a frame of sorts (get something in text generator or simply zoom the track motion a little. Then add light rays and/or glow to simulate the lamp shining straight on to the screen. If you want the film to unrail (if that's the word I want) while it ends I'm sure you could pan/crop something in the text generator. There will be fonts with film-like images available on the net.

BTW - what's a small 30 min project? 29?

Ray, Torsie! Dunnit lads!

I had a very old VideoSlave content disc that had writing and the such on the beginning/end of a a countdown . .for effect. Used that PLUS, I got busy with MSPhtodraw and created some HUGE sprockety type film pngs . . Woahhh . . AM I the business or wot!?!?!

Anyways, pulled these all together in Vegas, threw in some projector sounds, plus some lens flare, some INvert for good measure, . . ermmm wot ese? . . . . of yeah got busy with the white and red solid colours to create a "burn thru" - - - Yes I know it's a con . . .unrailing wouldn't show the writing . .coz it would be unrailled . . but the effect is there . . . wot I should be doing is making some PArticle Illusion flames and burn thru?!?! - Life's too short . . .

Thanks lads . . I got on with it . . Just shows when you put yer mind to something . . . I need to lay down in a darkened room and "bask in my own Genious!" - HAH!

If it helps I've got some old film type countdowns somewhere.
Think they came with MGI Videowave.

I could also send you some genuine footage of film leader, not that interesting really, just dirty white with lots of grot, with or without red line waving though it, although the bit at the start with the red Kodak printing on it is a bit more interesting.

As for film burning up in the gate, well I try to avoid that!

Yo farss! - I'm happy . . but some old DV of cine leader would be nice to play around with . .

Oh yes MGI - hah! That's my VideoSlave countdown I used . . it's good 'nuf - Cheers!

How DOES one burn DV tape in the gate?!?!? Teh, . . been getting it wrong all these years . . . maybe that's where I've been going wrong?

If you are still after some film leader let me know I've got some nice leader with "essential area" "cinemascope area" and other tech info on it, which I got from when I used to work in a film archive. If you want it send me a email and I'll send you a CD with it on.

In my business, I often transfer film to video and spend a lot of time getting rid of the effects you are trying to create.

Maybe I should leave it in and list it as FX, LOL.... could charge a little extra..

Yeah! Sounds good to me . . . Thanks to everybody that has contacted me by email and phone .. There is definatley a lot of this stuff avaiable out there . . Did the piece and finished off with the projector sound coming to halt, with a progressively slowing down strobie effect B/W/B/W/ . . . looked really neat! Audience loved the whole piece . . ah such is greatness . . hehehehe

I just did a short made to look like an old Charlie Chaplin movie, text slates, projector noise and all. But what you did, Gracie, sounds like it went a lot further. Any chance you could give us a veg file to take a look?
