Help needed with animated buttons

wikksmith wrote on 12/12/2007, 5:45 AM
I have a looping menu with 3 animated buttons (rendered video clips). On preview, all 3 clips loop OK, as does the background audio, but one of the buttons has a momentary blank spot at the end of its loop.
Is it because it has the shortest duration media event?
Is there a way to set loop points for each button individually?
Do I need to make all 3 clips the same length to avoid this problem?
Thanks,

Yes. Specifically, it's because it is (I suspect) shorter than the menu length. All animated buttons play for as long as the menu is set to play.

When the menu loops, the buttons loop. If the video for a button is not as long as the menu, then you're going to get dead air for the remaining time.

Is there a way to set loop points for each button individually?

No.

Do I need to make all 3 clips the same length to avoid this problem?

They don't need to be the same length, but they all need to be at least as long as the menu length.

Please remember that DVDA's animated buttons are a convenience feature -- the result is an mpg2 video clip no different than a clip created in Vegas using however many tracks resized & placed with track motion for example. If/when you run into limitations of DVDA for button creation, you can always fall back on Vegas to create the background video -- as an added benefit, it's more flexible & has more options.

You can use masks for irregular shapes & highlights, crop the video so the thumbnail is more recognizable, Set the duration for each looping clip, have the thumbnails loop points at different times, add shadows and FX and so on...
