help: no audio on VU meters

rs170a wrote on 2/14/2012, 6:11 PM
I must be brain dead because I can't figure this one out.
I'm doing some Vegas training at a friend's house.
I loaded an audio file in, hit play and can see the audio on the meter on the track header (Pro 10), can hear it through the speakers but the main meters aren't showing anything.
What am I missing?
Thanks.

Mike

Is the main fader actually working? you can hear up down volume changes?
Right hand click the master fader - do you have the settings for the display range set correctly?

do the meters you can see have "Preview" written above them? - if so, widen that window a little to see the 'Master' meters, or right click on the 'Preview' word and de-select "Show Preview Fader" which should now reveal the "Master" meter!

Maybe you have it the other way around.
If you just hit play from the media bin or explorer window then it's playing out over the preview bus and you need to look at the preview meters.

No luck Bob. When I play the clip from the Media tab, nothing shows on the master output meters.
