Hmmm... Are the clips freshly captured? . . Meaning, you haven't done any editing to them? Need some more info. As you rightly infer, you should be able to capture a video clip and have the audio with it. There are some capture preferences that you CAN just capture video OR audio . . . .

. . .hmmmm

well, im not capturing video clips off a cam, there on my hard drive. the files are in mpeg format, and some .avi's. they work fine with sound and all, when im using something like windows mediaplayer, etc. but when im previewing things in the vegas explorer, or in my media pool, they play without any sound, and when i drag them to the timeline, i still get no audio signal as a representation of the sound spectrum...hmmm i assume this is odd, perhaps i have something on my preferencwe or option disabled or something is the the only thing i can figure, but im sure i didnt change anything.

Sounds to me like you are screwed!!

Naaaaaa....just kidding.

Actually, it is the files you are working with. It is how they were compress....it's a codec thing!!!

I've had some AVIs that I got from gawd knows where that played fine in WinAmp and MS Media player....but when inserted in a Vegas Timeline....all I gots was the video and no audio. Had some other files like that too.

Might I suggest that after you download....uhm....I mean...acquire the files that don't seem to play correctly in VV that you run it through a converter (such as EasyX Video Converter) and make it a "proper" file.

That seemed to work for the porn....uhm...I mean...picnic video that I got from a friend of mine namedd Jake showing off his new camcorder.
