HELP! "system is low on memory" when rendering

yikes! every time i try to render the default .wmv 6mbps 720 30p format from my AVC h.264 .mp4 files i get the error "SYSTEM LOW ON MEMORY" after about 10 seconds. i have a very fast computer and have been able to save to this format before with no problem. the only thing different about this movie is it's a little longer (but only 15 minutes).

help! i am desperate...i have a saturday deadline for the movie.
here are my specs...
Intel core 2 quad q6600 2.4ghz
3gb ddr2 ram
1tb hard drive (7200rpm)
256mb nvidia 8600gt video card

what can i do?

also...this just in, i am rendering it now as a .mov file with no problems and over a gb of ram available...could it be the new media player i just installed? it is called a GOM player. it's just funny that the .wmv codec seems messed up all of a sudden.

AND, to be sure, when getting the error message "system low on memory" it is not even close...i have 3gb ram installed and only 2gb in use while rendering, at most. could it be a codec??

Maybe a paging/vertual memory thing. Try increasing paging file to 3 times ram total.

Ok, so I read through all the Vegas Pro and VMSP posts and found some VERY interesting issues.

I actually changed the "Dynamic RAM Preview" from 256mb (which is the max on my computer right now for some reason) to 128mb. And presto! the video is rendering, albeit slowly, but only using an average of 28% of all four cores.

Sony, what is up with the dynamic ram preview? why would it crash a .wmv hd render?

and by the way, before i changed this setting i was able to render in .mov and .m2t no problems. peace!
