HELP - "Unable to mix audio. The operation..."

Soniclight wrote on 7/7/2012, 8:40 PM

I've rebooted several times, but eventually my mixing .wav sound effects and soundtrack .veg grinds to a halt due to this error. Usually work in VP10e 64-bit, so tried my 32-bit but same thing eventually happens the moment I try to play the whole thing through - error shows up about 15 seconds in. Frustrating for I'm at the finish line for my video and need to fix a few last things.

Help needed a.s.a.p.
Thanks.

What plugins are you using in the project?

Whatever came with VP10, and this project has some very basic stuff like EQ, one Reverb, that's pretty much it. I have some VST but they're not used in this project.

Have you tried using audio on your computer in any other application? Try a YouTube video and then play back some existing video/audio file on your computer in a program other than Vegas. If the audio is working well with everything else, you can eliminate a system wide problem.

And have you added anything recently to your computer that might be interfering with the audio? Like a plugin or any other software?

If you hard bypass all of the plugins in the project, does the same problem occur?

How many busses are in this project.

Are you using event FX.?

What audio hardware are you using? Are you using ASIO, wave classic, mapper, or direct sound surround mapper for audio output?

If you have not tried using the Mapper as your output device, does the problem persist if you do?

What is the buffer size you are using for audio output?

In audio preferences, there is an option to disable track buffering. If you disable it, does the problem persist?

Thanks for replies and suggestions.

For now, I seem to have solved by first updating my M-Audio drivers, but then most importantly I changed the Vegas Project Audio setting from the default "Microsoft Wave Mapper" to where I could choose my M-Audio card - manually (not let the system choose it). The problem was only in-Vegas.

As to buffer size, I've left everything at default for now because I recall having noodled with that in Cubase years ago and got myself into a pickle... And speaking of Cubase, I really probably should have done my sound effects and music post editing in it, but got lazy and used Vegas since the video work is in it - lol.
