I have just gotten into Digital Video and am trying to make VCD's and eventually SVCD's . I don't have a DVD player as of yet except my computer DVD Drive. I have sent some VCD's to friends with mixed results. i am usind a Canon ZR45 and a firewire connection to capture the video into VF 2.0. I burned the CD at the default VF settings. I now have NERO 5.5 would this do a better job of burning the MPEG files to CD.
Below is the feedback I have recieved from my friends. Please help Any Suggestions.

Doug
I played the cd in my home DVD last night. Quality was poor, but I couldn't
find my DVD player's manual, so I don't know if there is a way to change
playback format or something.I could see the races fairly clearly, but video was blotchy and sound was very poor. There was a constant background pinging, almost sounded like a constant sonar ping.
Andy
had no audio problems. Just the motors, mild wind, and
talking on occasion. We had no problems there like Doug
mentioned. Video was very grainy.
Thanks in Advance for your help
