Help with 1080p compression

I'm experimenting with a 1080p project. Vegas renders to a VERY large output file (approx 8 GB/min) which I would like to compress for preview on my PC.

What do you suggest? I own the DivX codec, but can't seem to make it work with Vegas in 1080p mode. What do you use?

For test renders we use WMV (Windows Media Video) Advanced Profile. You should find something suitable there, and they will play back on XBox 360's with recent firmware.

I forgot to say that if you are working in a Studio RGB format (like DV or HDV in 8bit mode) then you will need to apply a colour corrector filter with a Studio to Computer RGB conversion. Read Glenn Chann's article at www.glennchann.info for greater clarity.
