Ill try explain my problem best i can but im no expert, hence why im posting this:)

I have a 2 camera edit to do, one source is PAL 4:3 mini DV footage the other source is 1080/50 HD source.

I thought id be able to do the edit in mini dv as i know i wont be able to up the dv source to HDV but am i correct in thinking i can make the HDV source the same aspect as my DV footage ?

ive captures a sample of the mini dv and a sample of the HDV(and converted it to dv proxy with gearshift) obviously the HDV footage has black bars across the top and the dv footage doesnt.

Any help on getting both these aspect rations correct invegas would be appreciated. This is not a proffesional job and there will only be me and a few friends seeing it.

cheers
si

I think you have to apply to your local government office for aspect rations.

I have some aspect rations. The cans are all slanted to one side.

But seriously though...

I think the only way you can make a 4:3 image and the 16:9 HD picture display the same, is by putting bars over top & bottom of the 4:3 image to make them look the same--otherwise you're just stretching the image. Only other option is to leave the 4:3 alone and zoom the HD picture out till the bars are gone, but either way you're giving up a slice of the picture in one or the other.
