@Tom Pauncz

Where in Preview Device did you find the option to change from 10-bit to 8-bit processing? I don't see an option to check properties.

Darrell,
The Intensity Pro card has to be seen and be selected as the preview device before you can see that option.

It's not available when the preview device is something else.

For me it was a driver issue. I had the older Blackmagic driver 9.0.0 installed - have yet updated to the latest driver 9.7.1., and now it works also with build 563.

Even if I have to state that 1080 50p projects work fine with a 720 50p preview only (not 1080 50i, I do not see any reason for that but that is what I see here).

Seems that older driver like 9.0.0 works only with the older dll.

Well its looks like I've reached the end of my rope here. I am now convinced that my MOBO will not work with BMD. If "Device Manager" doesn't see the card then it's not there. I've installed the BMD card in all available slots with no results. Only on one occasion did it appear briefly and then it was gone. Just for "Yuks & Giggle" yesterday I went through the entire routine again of shuffling the BMD card--same results.

I'm satisfied that I made every reasonable effort to resolve the issues, so now moving on! The upside is I am smarter today than when I started this thread. Disappointed yes. Stressed NO. Thanks to everyone for your help and suggestions.
