Help with Video Capture in Vegas 4.0

When I open Vegas 4.0 Capture with my camera hooked up with
i-link a message appears " the device "Soma Capture" could not be opened" .
What does this mean? How can I capture Video from my Canon GL2 into Vegas 4.0? I have a Sony Vaio with an i.Link S400. Can anyone help?

If you're running Windows XP, first see if you can capture with the free Windows Movie Maker.

Experiment with turning on your camera before or after running the capture application.

You should be able to see the camera in Device Manager.
