Gonzoman,
A couple of things to try:
Try setting your "read ahead optimization" to NONE. (Right click my computer icon / Properties /> Performance / File System). Now click on the Troubleshooting tab and check "disable write-behind caching for all drives".

Make sure your field order is correct (lower first)

Is your audio 100% in synch in the original (no gaps)?

Did you use the NTSC DVDA video only template, then the audio AC3 template that matches it?

What was the original source for the footage?

Did the black frames occur near an FX?

John

Thanks Craftech, I'll try that.

I see no response from Sony here - no big surprise :(

Hey gonzo, This is a forum, not a live tech support. Just be glad that sony programmers do look at this forum, which is a vary rare thing in the software world. Forums are created so that users of the software can help each other. Not a way for you to get a hold of the programmers. I have never chatted with another programmer from any other softwareforumincluding, microsoft, to adobe, to games, to OS. Geese give the guys a break, they are going out of there way to be involved in this forum and you treat them like they are doing some injustice to you when he is not answering your replies. He is probally working on a bug right now, thats where he should be. not answering fourum questions. Thats what other users are for.

Gonzoman,

Did you see the sign on the front door on your way in? ;-)

"The Sony Media Software discussion forum is a peer support area where you can share tips and advice with other Sony Media Software product users. We monitor these boards periodically. However, if you require immediate technical support, please choose from the options on our Support Home Page."

Would you also like a satellite with a laser on it so you can scratch your a$$!?

Yea - I saw it. I also see them semetimes offering help and support on this board. Sometimes they do - sometimes they don't. No consistancy. Well actually...they don't offer it more than they do so I guess that's pretty consistant huh?

Posts from the Sony "software engineers" in the form of actual help or useful advise or suggestions has slipped to the point they are almost nonexistence unlike years ago when they were much more frequent. Meawhile the noise from the peanut gallery has increaded markedly.

I've got to echo skibumm. The fact that actual programmers interact with the users is amazingly rare in my experience. It's a luxury, and we should all be grateful they do it at all.

Sony may own this software, but my sense is that the same group of good guys is building this excellent software. I hope we can all focus on solving each other's problems and not turn this into a forum to flame Sony.

Actually,
If you do a search you will find that the Sony tech people have traditionally interacted with this peer group around the time of new software releases. Then it tapers off to a rarity for a year.

Hope that statement doesn't prompt a "go scratch your %$@#* "statement from the (40 some odd posts in 3 years) people.

John
