If you own (or can purchase) a DV Cam with S-video inputs, for the price of the cam, you get the converter for free - plus you now have a digital cam.

I've digitized most of my analog 8mm stuff this way. I swear the saturation and overall appearance of the hi-8 stuff is improved in the process.

Best results will be obtained using Digital 8 camera or VCR. Failling that play it out through Hi8 deck via ADVC-100 or better still ADVC-300.
