HI8 transfer to DV

I am currently working on a project that requires using some HI8 footage (reasonably good resolution) in conjunction with DV footage. I am trying to match the two formats, using various filters: brightness & contrast / color balance / HSL and others. Two questions:

1) What is the best filter combo in V.V. to achieve that result? Keeping in mind the end product will be shown on a large screen.

2) Does the new package of plug-in filters offer filters that would be useful for that purpose?

Thanks for any input.

I cannot really comment on your question regarding filters, but, I have had some experience incorporating footage from different camera types into a project. Rather than trying to use software to match them, I suggest dubbing the non-DV footage to DV. I've done that with footage shot on regular 8mm and Hi-8, and find that dubbing to Digi8 seems to liven up the saturation such that, if the original analog footage was respectable in the first place, the DV dub will allow it to be used along side native DV and be quite acceptable.

Just my two cents. Hope you find it useful.

I just transfered some HI8 footage to DV and adjusted the brightness / contrast and it improved the saturation and nearly matches my DV native footage.

Caruso, do you know if the new plug-ins offers any filters that could be used to improve saturation?

Thanks

The HSI (Hue, Saturation, Intensity) filter can be used to increase saturation. This one will really slow renders down enormously though.
