Please tell me there's a "Hide Track" function in V10?

Grouping tracks is a new feature in Pro 10.
Maybe you did this somehow?

I don't know how to "hide" an track in Vegas. Don't think you can.
You can make it fairly small (minimize) but I don't know how to hide a track.
But a track can scroll off the screen entirely and still play.
Scroll the time line up to see if that is the case or "double" click on the "timeline scroll bars" on the far right of the timeline to "minimize" all the tracks. It may show up this way.
If none of this applies. Post a screen shot so we can see what goes on...

You got something there Mike. Grouping tracks in V10 is one way to "hide" tracks. They are not completely hidden but nearly. Actually, this might be a handy thing when using lots of tracks.

Unfortunately the track is totally invisible. I'm guessing veg file got corrupted. Looks like I'll be cutting and pasting into a new project again...

Okay, this is weird: select everything in the old project, copy, and paste into a new, empty project...and the missing track reappears right where you'd expect it to be.

Strange.

Your'e not alone.

I had an empty TL but Vegas could play the audio.

This is a thing that can happen not just with audio tracks, but video as well. In fact, entire project may not be visible on the timeline, and yet it plays back...

It's the FileIOSurrogate32 process that's responsible for this behavior. It happened very often with the first 64-bit version of Vegas (the 8.1).

With the subsequent versions, it happens very, very rarely.

I actually just discovered this a few days ago, 12 years after this thread was made, while using Vegas Pro 13. 😁 The invisible audio track problem can be avoided by soloing all visible tracks (however this only prevents the invisible tracks from being heard or rendered, but it does not actually remove the invisible tracks from the project).

I wonder if this bizarre behavior was completely fixed in newer versions of Vegas. I think what might possibly trigger the bug is grouping tracks (with locked events?) and then either repositioning those tracks or dropping them into another group (so the first group loses its "grouped status"). I may never know for sure, but at least there's an in-project workaround! 😌

Please see this thread:

There's also a solution to make it visible again.

That is incredible!! I can't thank you enough!😄 I'm going to post a short video showing the process...
