I just found out, from someone that knows a lot more about Vegas than most anyone, that the 6.0c Vegas update included a new script that was not mentioned in the Readme files or in any documentation I could find.
This script takes markers embedded in media files and puts them on the timeline.
The script is called "Promote Media Markers.cs" and is located in the
C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas 6.0\Script Menu
folder. You simply select the event(s), run the script, and the markers in the event are put on the timeline.
Perhaps everyone but me knows about this, but I couldn't find it in the readme or any other release notes, and just searched these forums and the only mention was deep in a reply to someone a few weeks ago (which I missed), and in a topic the day after 6.0c was released early last October (Regions to Subclips).
Just thought you'd be interested, in case you missed it. It is great to finally be able to do more with those little vertical lines that appear within events that contain embedded markers.
