Highlight reel editing steps

I'm creating a highlight reel by taking an .avi and selecting pieces of it and putting them into another .avi. I've been using Vegas since yesterday, and I was interested in any advice (I have RTFM).

What I do is this:

1. Load the source .avi into Trimmer

2. Slosh around until I find the start of a clip (I could use some help with this, too)

3. "In" the clip by pressing I

4. Find the end of the clip and press O to "out" it, then press "A" to add it to the timeline.

5. (This is the annoying part). Click on the right side of the loop region in the Trimmer, then press Space to play.
In Sound Forge, there's a keystroke to go to the opposite side of the selection. Is there something similar here that would avoid using the mouse?

In Vegas, the Trimmer is there to support those who are used to an arcane way of working.

(I'm sure somebody will disagree, but I can't even remember when I last used the Trimmer for anything, and I've been using Vegas since V3.)

Just copy any part you want from the timeline, I prefer to paste it to another instance of Vegas where you edit your highlight reel.
