Hobbyists road to V4

Actually I don't intend to start a speculation thread or price bid on the road to upgrade for V4...There already has been an interesting thread on those topics only very recently...

What I guess I fear most in the worst case scenario (not affording upgrade - though I'm going to do my very best to join in the fun!) is basically "losing" the learning process derived from some of the pearls of wisdom I have found both here and on the COW. Which takes me to my main point: in my experience investing in Vegas Video 3 was oh so difficult to justify on $ terms (I haven't been able to bring myself to confess to my wife how much the prog cost - download direct...duh!)...Now however I have been feeling on top of the world both as a result the actual application, but especially from all the help I have received from people on these forums (SF, COW, Sundance Media Group VEG sharing - wow!-, Vegasusers etc..). Now that really is added value to me: I would never have been able to accomplish half as much as I have so far without all that help - so above all, a BIG THANK YOU!!

If I finally dont make it to the upgrade, I will still have an incredible application to do my little home vids...But I will sure miss out on all the learning I have found around here...And that I assure you not only worries me but it also actually hurts! I don't want to miss out on this community!!

BTW, surely "knowledge management" is a $ value of some sort in itself...

Regards!

Paul.

Dont you think though, that VV3 will be talked about here? I think it will be around for awhile, and if SF holds onto it's products, there may be a separate forum for VV3 stuff and one for VV4 stuff.

I'm in the same boat as you. However, I don't think we'll be outcast for being VV3ers when V4 comes out. The people here are first rate, and I'm sure they'll still be willing to help out the less fortunate such as us.

PS: I wouldn't count on a separate forum.

Hey Summersond! That was quick!! I guess there still will be, as there is for VV2, but just check the rate of activity vs. this forum as an example...and the Pros will all be discussing the new features, tricks, shortcuts, effects ..and the main thing is that V4 VEG wont load into V3: that will be a real shame...

You may find that a number of people wait for a point release before jumping. I know I usually avoid x.0 releases. Also, I know there are people that have moved on to VV3 but still provide help to VF users. I really don't think you'll be left out if you don't upgrade ASAP.

Actually, I would rather not see a separate forum, as this could be a one stop answer shop.

I agree, keep the Vegas Video and Vegas Audio forums. The interface look isn't changing much if at all between VV3 and V4 and the current forum still takes questions on VV2. VF has the same forum for VF1 and VF2 users.

I don't think it will change how we use this forum at all. I just hope that VV3 veggies will work in V4.

If the past is any indication I doubt the V3 veggies will work in V4. As far as "support" from forum members I always went under the assumption that unless the poster said otherwise he was referring to the current version or that what he said applies across the board regardless of version.

Maybe if SoFo upgraded the forum software you could have icons or check marks that a poster coulduse to indicate what version he was talking about.
