Hollywood bridge and Sony BVW-35P Capture

Although the Hollywood bridge AtoD converter is mentioned in the list of supported capture devices, I am having problems with audio glitches ( a sort of squeeky sound!) and momontary frame grabs when using my BVW-35P betacam player. I eventually had to use Adobe Premier to capture( even the free capture software with windows XP captured better than Vegas!) Any advice as to set up would be gratefully received.
Even though not mentioned in the supported list, I would also like to say that my Sony DSR 200AP works well using firewire. But.....
Sometimes I need to use Betacam camcorder as the lens on this camera cost just a little bit more than the DV Cam camcorder!

Have you turned off DV device control (in the capture options)? My old Hollywood DV Bridge had all kinds of problems as long as device control was on, but it worked somewhat better (though nowhere near as well as my new ACEDVio) with this setting turned off.

Thanks for you reply.....unfortunately I have turned off the dv capture......I must admit I was hoping a Sony mand would have come to the rescue as well....but maybe they do not have an answer either. As my money is limited at present I canot afford a better capture device!

I assume you are referring to the Hollywood Dazzle?

I have on a number of occassions tried using one of these, I'll admit it was only the MKI but it was truly aweful. I've yet to find anyone that had a good result from this box, good news is they are no longer made. I had even worse problems than what you describe with audio with this box. First program off a 3 hours VHS was OK but loss of syncs caused it to turn the audio into Dalek Speak so the rest of the capture was useless.

You can pick up the ADS Pyro A/V Link for around USD 149 if you are tight for money. The ADVC-300 would be the ideal solution when it hits the market but it's going to be a lot more expensive. It does have a TBC which will help a lot but only composite and S-Video inputs. Pyro does give you component in and it's codec looks very good.

I'm not familiar with the BVW-35P, does it have a TBC and dropout comp?

You really need that from what I know to get a good feed from SP.

I use the ADS Pyro A/V link box to do transfers from BetaCam. As Robert (farss) pointed out, the ADS box has component inputs which is perfect for the highest quality BetaCam transfers.
