Hi Pipeline -
This sounds really interesting. Why is the single IDE drive so much faster than a RAID drive? Any insights?
Thanks,
Bgc

firstly cuz my raid array wasnt the best ( IDE raid)

but mostly I think because of the EIGHT MEG buffer on the wd 1200jB

try running dskbench on your drives and let me know what it says on 64k clusters

Will do. I've got a SCSI RAID which should be pretty good.

Are you able to use that raid and not clog up the pci buss bandwidth ?
That is another problem for me
In order to get enough buss time, I am unable to use both my audio cards.
If I use both my audio cards, there is not enough buss time left for streaming the raid

Im using 2 RME 9652's and 3 RME ADI DS AD/DA's

streams tons of tracks fine at 48k 24 bit but having a LOT of trouble past 40 tracks of 96k 24 bit

today Im gonna see how 96k does on these new wd1200 drives!

Yeah, I've heard a lot of good things about these drives. I'm using IBM deskstar 60GXP's at the mo, and they're solid enough. I'll have to give those a test drive when I next build / upgrade!

The only PCI card I have is a 2-channel DAL board. This is my mixing machine so I don't need more than 2 output channels.
