Home DVD compatablity/programs

I have burned numerous DVDs in the past year. I use Vegas 3.0 and Nero 6. I also have the SOny 510-A DVD burner. I recently burnt a DVD of a wedding and he did not play on the mother's DVD player. SHe told me that it was atleast 4 -5 years old. That should be the problem....it did play in the Bride's however.

Well, she took it to two other family member's homes and could not get it to play and they are both "newer" DVD players.

The DVD also plays in all three of my players. I used DVD+R. What are the chances that those players need DVD-R? I have never had a problem like this before.

Also, does anyone know of a company that can make real DVDs in a very short run(2 or 3)?
Thanks in Advance.
Chris

DVD-R is still the predominant format. It should play on more players than the +R's. Almost all new players coming out should play both -R and +R. But some older players don't play either.

Thanks...I thought, for some reason, that DVD+R was the most compatible.....I will try that and see if it helps.

Do authoring programs have any influence on the outcome..say Nero vs. DVD-Architect?

Not much, if any. They all burn discs to DVD spec's. You are in the best position to influence the outcome by using the right encoding bitrate and getting the audio right on the mpeg2 before you begin your authoring and burning.
