?Horizontal text banner scroll w/ chromakey?

Hi Folks... There MUST be a way to do this, but I can't seem to figure it out. Here's what I'm trying to accomplish:

I trying to generate a text scroll - moving horizontally from off-screen right to off-screen left. Sort of like a banner. AND I'm trying to make it so that the text itself is key-able so that a moving image "behind" the text shows through where the text is. The rest of the screen can be black. Keyable scrolling text with black background.

I've found that with very short text phrases in small sizes, you can do something similar with pan/crop/keyframes. What I;m trying to do is text that almost fills the screen - scrolls on from right side, and continues to scroll off the left side - with text in a banner-like fashion like "THIS IS A TEST OF A TRANSPARENT BANNER SCROLL"

I'm thinking there must be a way to do this within Vegas itself, but perhaps I need a 3rd party generator of some sort?

Thanks, -H

Use transparent text, put your video on a line below the text, and pan the text. Set the speed with keyframe. If you dont like the type of text use photo shop or any other program that can generate a png type file (alpha channel) with the text style you like and import that into VMS. Use the grids to line it all up. Some people prefer the pan as opposed to the "prefab" stuff that Sony provides. You don't need a 3rd party program to do what you want.

You can also do this with bluff titler.

If you use the standard transparent text preset then the background image will show around the text and the text itself will be a solid color. I got the feeling from the original post that Hutch wants it the other way around, with the background image inside the text. This can be done by going into the text properties and changing the text color's alpha to 0 (transparent) and the background to alpha 255 (solid).

There's a good tutorial here, it's for pinnacle studio, but it explains the theory and result in detail.

This may help. I haven't tried it in VMS, but I suspect there is a way to do it. I also still recommend bluff titler.
