hot folder

Hi all
Im sure this is a common problem and i have searched the forums. Perhaps Im looking for the wrong this. Is it possible for vegas to render from a hotfolder. That is I want to drop a file into a particular folder and then have it rendered into another format in another folder. I have used scripting in the past and was wondering if there is a way to do it in that. Should I be using wsh or something like that in conjunction with vegas. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks

Richard

There are scripts that will render all media files in a given folder, and there are other scripts that will render all VEG projects in a folder. Both scripts will render to the folder of your choice. Is this what you are looking for? If so, go to this site, which has links to all things Vegas, and you'll find just about all the free scripts available. Also, I think Excalibur and Ultimate S (commercial scripts) may do what you want.

You would have to write the script such that it looked for changes in that particular folder and, upon finding a change, perform the render. Of course they'd all need to be rendered to the exact same format or you'd also need some way of telling the script the desired output format.

However, the above would require a copy of Vegas open and running that script all the time. I believe you would be better off using John's advice and just using one the batch render scripts. Simply collect them all day and then just batch render overnight (for example).

Hi,

Think you'll find TJ's Sound Forge scripting advice interesting. It's in the Sound Forge Scripting forum, but you can see the "watch folder" discussion is under way...
