How about a "Redo" of a Script Action?

Grazie wrote on 10/4/2008, 12:32 AM
Title says it all, however . . .

I can UNDO a script's action but I can't REDO after I've UNDOne. And I know I can find the script again and fire it off. But I am at the UNDO REDO icon? And I know the Script Gurus are gonna say:"Grazie, now you KNOW that isn't possible!!" Well, never stopped me asking before, wont stop me in the future and . . many an idea HAS sprung from this keyboard?!?

So, how about it - Gurus?

Grazie, I just tried doing this with a couple of different scripts applied sequentially and I could run the scripts, UNDO and then REDO with no problems (7.0e and 8.0c).

Ah! I see Mike.

No, what I want to happen is the Script to redo - what I AM getting is the "REDO" result of running the prior script session. What I want is the Script session to reappear ready for me to adjust. I think what you are seeing is the result OF that script session, not a REDO of the script function GUI. If I got this then I could readjust the script once more. See?

No, I understand what you are saying, but what I want is that the Script comes up again, potentially allowing me an option to readjust - not just the result - yeah?

Thanks for forcing me to clarify my wishes though.

Understood Grazie.
Sorry about the misunderstanding.

When you run a script it does it's thing and it's gone. What you're asking for sure can be done but it's the resposibility of the script writer not Vegas. The Multirender does implement what you're after as I think does US but they're a lot more complex than the average script.

Bob, that's not exactly true. To run a script again with different settings, you're going to have to run the script again! Now with Custom Commands - (like Excalibur 6, Ultimate S 4, and a few of the other tools) - it gets easier as the script is STILL THERE. However, a script cannot intercept a click of the "redo" button and then fire off.

Besides, it would have to check and see if it was the LAST thing in the "undo" list too! For example, suppose you move a clip and then run the script. Now you click undo TWICE. When clicking redo, you would not want the script to fire off.

Bottom line is that to get different results you're going to have to manually run the script again.
