How about a speech to text function instead of the other way around?

Hi all
well, as the title suggests...I've been slightly frowning at the AI text to speech function, as in my view, it dehumanizes something as vital as human voices with all their real human warmth, character, charm and qualities, and will definitely cost many jobs. Do we really want that? Do we want AI singers, actors, writers, editors...as projected in the rather frightening deep fake scenarios involving GPT 3?

I'd personally find the opposite direction far more useful, as it would make things like subtitling far easier.

What's your take on this?

Thanks!

I think text to speech is helpful when trying to do a bit of voiceover in a language other than your native one on a project that doesn't justify hiring someone for it.

Also 100% agree speech to text is more useful for captioning and it seems like you've resolved your thread here.

I'm guessing that this new feature is only available for 365 subscribers?

Yes, that's correct for both tools. They send data to servers to then return to Vegas.

I have uploaded audio to youtube and let it create captions. Then download, fix and insert.

Buen día,

Tenemos la siguiente pregunta sobre la función de texto a voz de Vegas en PRO Edit 365.

¿La transcripción de texto a voz se realiza en servidores externos?

Saludos cordiales y gracias.

Translation from Spanish:

Good day,

We have the following question about the Vegas text-to-speech feature in PRO Edit 365.

Is text-to-speech transcription done on external servers?

Best regards and thank you.

From other posts/comments on the forum, it seems that text-to-speech (and vv) is a service provided by Microsoft - so that would have to involve MS servers I would think.

Yes, external servers.
