How are you doing HDDV?

We have a new FX1 and now I am looking to use the extra resolution for the future, but I want to shoot with 1 HD along with 2 SD cameras.
I know that the footage will look drastically different from HD to SD, but I need to know what I need to know to get the HD downconverted to SD (I guess) when I capture the footage. I will only use the HD footage alone and I guess have to recapture it using HD.

Is this how you guys are editing HD? Making all your edits editing with SD first then deleting the source and capturing in HD and replacing the file?

Thanks for your comments.

You can't capture in SD and offline to HD later on, unless you've got hardware that can guarantee frame accuracy. The way TC works in the FX1, this isn't possible, you need to step to the Z1.

As far as converting, if you've got Vegas you might as well capture HDV and convert it in Vegas if you don't want to keep it HDV. This way you can always repurpose the footage to HD when your client or you wants HD output in a few months.

If you want to edit SD, but deliver HD, you can convert all your HDV to SD while keeping the HDV, and manually replace all the media, or, you can use a tool like GearShift" which will auto-switch all your files from SD to HD and/or back again.
