How can I convert to AC3 audio? SF...Anyone?

Does ANY SF software offer AC3 encoding for DVD production. I see that soft encode could but obviously the software is gone. I've seen teasers about a plug-in being able to do this but do we have any idea as to time line for release?

Must I upgrade to Acid 4.0 in order to use the new plug-in or will VV 3.0 have the ability?

Does anyone know of any apps other than SF that will convert to AC3? Thanks.

This is a little rough around the edges..

http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/ac3machine.htm

But it works. I am not sure if there are issues associated with dobly patents or not.

I believe if you use this, plus tmpgenc, plus vegas you can use vegas to create a video only mpeg stream, then use vegas to make a WAV stream, then use ac3machine to transcode the WAV to ac3. Then use tmpgenc to mux the streams. Then I think one of the Ulead DVD products if set right will accept the AC3 format without modification.

If you want a slightly more expensive option, try
http://www.dvdit.com/

The PE edition will accept ac3 streams.. It may even be able to create them.
