How can you cut/splice video?

I am new to the vegas software and the manual is terrible. How do I splice video? For example I captured video from my camcorder and it combined 2 scenes on the same frame. I want to cut the frame, so that i can edit in still pictures into the movie I am making.

help!!

Place the cursor where you want to cut, press S for "split".

There is no such thing as splice. Simply place two events (video, pictures, etc.) next to each other on the timeline and they will play sequentially. You can't really join them together, nor is this necessary.
