How do I?

The preview window has decided to share itself with the track effects controls so I can now only see one at a time. So as I adjust an effect I can't see the result. When I look at the preview I can't adjust the effect. Previously the effects controls opened in their own window. I have only 2 windows available now where before there were three. How do I move Preview and Effects controls to separate windows again? Thanks John I

If I had a nickle...

John, yours is such a common question, you'd think SoFo would make it more obvious. Under View you see there are many things that can appear in a window pane at the bottom of the work space. Its a damned if you do, damned if you don't problem because the window panes are undockable, meaning not only can they 'float" (you can move them anywhere (size too) they can hide behind one another and seem to have disappeared or go where they don't belong.

Alongside each window pane is a thin vertical line. Hover your mouse over it and while holding down the left mouse button drag. This frees or 'undocks' the window pane and you can put it back where it once was or put it elsewhere.

The curse is if you expand several window panes then one or more can hide behind the others marking it hand to see and grab the 'handle' (the vertical line I mentioned) in order to grab it and move it. In your case all you need to do is grab the window pane you want to move and drag sideways and it should peel off the preview dock area. Maybe SoFo should at least make it a bright color. <wink>

Thanks - that's it!! Worse still I read about this several messages ago in the Forum and had forgotten until you reminded me about the "thin vertical line" Thanks again. John I
