How do I get text to appear on a video clip?

I want to have text while the clip is playing, not before and not after, its got to be during the clip.
Please help.

Put your text effect in the appropriate place in the timeline in the Video Overlay strip (overlaying the part of your video in the Video strip that you want to blend with.) Use a text effect with a transparent background, and you can go into the effect's properties to position the text exactly where you want it.
