How do I name music tracks in Vegas when making a Red Book CD so the track names appear in a player list like Windows Media?

Do I have to use CD Architect for that functionality?

Method so far: lay out songs on time line with a small gap between songs; normalize each track; select Tools: Lay Out Audio CD From Events (The track names are in the Regions created by this step); burn Disk At Once.

Makes a great CD in a real hurry but the track names, even if I type them in the Regions created by Vegas, don't list the track names.

Thanks.

That functionality is called CD Text and Vegas does not support it.

The new release of Sound Forge 8 does come with this:

CD Architect 5.2 with CD Text support

Perhaps Vegas 6 will include this too. Sony has a lot of Vegas stuff planned for NAB next month, so perhaps we see the release of Vegas 6 then.

Hi
As you know all cd's have a two second pause between tracks as part of the RFC. The easy way is to burn to hard drive folder and then rename them. Then use one of a thousand burners to make copies.

A word of wisdom, be aware that the last few tracks are very unstable. Try to leave a 10% margin free space as not to push your luck.

Sony a few years back made a copy protection scheme using the last few tracks as dead spots. A guy with a magic marker made a line around the outbound tracks and ole', copy protection defeated!

Point is data is data is data, be sure to rename your tracks on volitile storage media then move them to cd.
Best Wishes,
