How do I reduce file size?

Hello. I have an MPG file which I have loaded in Studio HD 10. I then add chapter markers and render. The original MPG file is about 3GB, and when I render, it creates an MPG and AC3 files. I then send these to DVD architect. However the new MPG file is 7GB, i.e. too large for burning to DVD. The timeline is 2 hours 30 mins long. Can I reduce quality to reduce the file size so it fites onto a DVD?

File size is directly related to the bitrate used. So to get a smaller file size you use a lower bitrate. If you can't get to the "custom" settings to lower the bitrate, just render it out to DV and give DVD Architect the DV file and let it make it fit.

Though, as a rule of thumb, it's best to limit your DVD content to about 70 minutes (or about twice that for a dual-layer DVD disc) in order to preserve your video at max quality.

2 hours is no problem for a DVD. No need to limit it to 70 minutes. 2:30 is definitely pushing it, though.
