How do I remove Black Bars in photos and movies?

I am very new to this version of Movie Studio. I used to use it about 10 years ago. I recently produced a movie that was great and the original footage was from a tape. Now I have used a digital camcorder and when I am making a movie from the clips I have these black bars at the top and bottom that I don't want. What can I do to get a view with no black bars? thanks!

You set your project and render properties to match your media resolution and aspect..
Go to Support->Knowledgbase at the top of this page, or to the forum search link, and type in "Match media settings" without the quotes.

According to the quick start guide, select "stretch video to fill output frame size" in render options when exporting a video.

No. The OP wants to eliminate the letterbox while maintaining aspect ratio,
Stretching the video vertically to fill the screen is not the way to do that.
Matching the media aspect in the project and render is the correct way.

...yes, you're right, you have to match the project settings with the source material.
