How do I start MS+DVD Platinum

I cannot load my Video from a Sony HDR-HC1 Camcorder. I had to do it via Movie Maker. I downloaded up to 6.0b in the subject software. It seems to me that Sony would have been well advised to copy Pinnacle Studio 9's Video demonstation.
Can anyone give me a clue, I am a 77 yr. old guy, doing my best.Thank you.

First, you probably want to be in the Vegas Movie Studio forum, not the professional users forum.

When capturing from the HC1, you need to:
1. Use the Internal capture application
2. Be sure the camera is not in Downconvert mode

These two steps should make it easy to capture.
Vegas could have copied Pinnacle's method of capture, but I think the engineers wanted something that actually worked.
