How do I transfer render templates again?

BrianStanding wrote on 5/15/2009, 7:08 AM
I swear I did this when I upgraded from V7 to V8, but I can't for the life of me remember how, and I can't find any help items or forum posts.

How do I transfer saved render templates from V8 to V9? I tried Preset Manager and looking in the MyDocuments/Application Settings folder for Vegas Pro, but can't seem to find it.

Thanks in advance.

My render templates have come over from VP8? Yours haven't?

Weird.

I'm with Grazie on this as all my templates from V8 are now in V9.
If they didn't show up though, they're in:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Sony\File Templates
Where <username> is your windows account name.

Mine came in automatically. Do you install the Vegas to the same folder?

ie c:\program files\sony

Weird. They're there in Vegas 8, but not in Vegas 9. Maybe because I'm running the trial version?

Looks like they share the same folder, so there's no way to copy them.

Brian,
I see same as you. Some are there others, not.

My .avi templates are seen by v9 trial, but my customized ones under SONY AVC are not.

It seems selective.

Grazie, Mike

Are you guys running the trial, or did you upgrade?

Brian,

I checked on two systems, both of which are running the trial.

It appears, from what I've checked, that the private settings (mine) are not being picked up from the MP4 related templates - those in mcmp4plug and mp4plug2 directories under File Templates.

Also some from ac3plug, ac3plug, qt5plug, qt7plug, mcplug and wmfplug.

Brian, I've got the full version as well.
I think Tom is (once again) on to something.
It turns out I was mistaken in my earlier response.
I just did a full comparison between V8 & V9 and only some of them show up :-(

edit: bug report submitted.

FYI, I sent this in as a bug report and SCS recommends following the procedure in the How Do I: Recreate your custom presets on Video FX and transitions Knowledgebase article.
Am I alone in thinking that this isn't the right answer?

Mike,
I am with you. Presets and Render Templates are two different things. Moreover they reside in different directories.
