how do I "unsplit" ?

I know how to split audio and or video. Besides "undo-ing" ... how do I re-join two objects so that the split is no longer there? I don't see an unsplit or re-join command in the edit options.

I can use the group command to join two things and treat it like it is unsplit ... but I was hoping to re-join without the line indicating it was once split.

thx

Just delete the part to the right of the split - and then pull the right side of the first part to the right.

I’m a relative newbie and I too have wondered about ‘unsplitting.’ I understand ritmer’s suggestion above but shouldn’t the app programmers have offered a simpler, more elegant way to do this? One for the suggestion box, I guess.

Unsplitting is only a simple task if done immediately after the split, and at that point Undo does the job just fine. After you've done a few more edits it's quite likely that unsplitting could be disastrous, clobbering other edits you've done in the meantime.

My advice is usually to ignore it completely. In *most* cases, you can ignore the fact that the event has been split and you'll never notice the difference.

I have never found an easy 'split undo' method. All of the above suggestions work. You may just want to GROUP the pieces if you're far along in the project and try to ignore the split. It's far better than the days with a razor blade and splicing tape!

Simple.
Delete one segment of the split event and drag the other out to its original length. There are snaps at each end.

If you have ripple turned off, you won't have any train wrecks of the kind Kelly just described.

When you split an event, it creates two (or more) complete copies of the event, so you can throw away one without losing anything.

Thanks for the answer: delete segment ... and drag the edge of remaining side.
It just never occurred to me that's how it works... but it makes sense now.
