how do media bins work?

never had a need for these until now. i want to make a chronological slide show of my daughter for her 10th birthday tomorrow. i have 10 folders of photos each corresponding to a year of her life. how can i dump those into 10 media bins that i can work from one at a time (i.e. view only media from birth to 1 year, finish that portion of ss, close. open 1 to 2 years and view only that bin of photos til done that section, etc. etc.) help topic index was very vague. i'd like to set up all the bins in advance.

I haven't used bins, never saw a lot of use for them.

If i wanted to divide these up i'd create folders for each year, then open up the folder i wanted to work with at the time.

But, i probably wouldn't even do that. I'd name the picture files so that they started with the year as the first few characters. That way they'd be sorted in the explorer window by year.
