They are "burns."

See example: http://www.artbeats.com/clips/FC127/NTSC

You use one of the compositing modes on it in Vegas.

Intel Core i7 10700K CPU @ 3.80GHz (to 4.65GHz), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8GBytes. Memory 32 GBytes DDR4. Also Intel UHD Graphics 630. Mainboard: Dell Inc. PCI-Express 3.0 (8.0 GT/s) Comet Lake. Bench CPU Multi Thread: 5500.5 per CPU-Z.

Vegas Pro 21.0 (Build 108) with Mocha Vegas

Windows 11 not pro

You could create your own. One way is if you have something like BluffTitler. I've been playing around with the BurningDot.bt show that was demoing when I started up the app. Modifying that "show" yields some good sequences. In Vegas I applied a blur effect to the "burn" effect to smooth out the edges. I get different effects by changing the compositing mode and opacity slider.

You might find some burn effects on YouTube or Vimeo.

From viewing that first clip ... this effect is a digital simulation of a light leak in a movie film camera. Either while filming or while handling outside of the camera.

Just to add a follow up. I did find a download and after watching it I thought I could probably do it myself. I went full telephoto out of focus and ended up with some really good clips that would work great. Thanks again for your suggestions...everyone on the site ROCKS...
