how do you deal with moire

just wondering how you deal with occational moire problems. the 'reduce interlace flicker' works not bad but i don't believe it is specifically designed to handle moire problems

a search of VMS 7 help doesn't give any hits for reducing moire problems.

i have a clip of my sister with a horizontally striped t-shirt and the moire is quite noticeable.

any thoughts?

Rotate the frame 90 degrees?? ;-) Sorry, I couldn't resist...

OK, maybe you could use the same techniques that are used for pan/crop on stills. That is, add the Gaussian Blur effect, set the horizontal blur to zero and set the vertical to the minimum amount (something like .001 -- I can't remember the number of decimal places). It's worth a try.

Thanks, Paul, for the idea. I tried the gaussian blur method and actually the 'reduce interlace flicker' swtich seems to work better. The gaussian blur method did indeed reduce moire but the vertical blurring was noticeable. The 'reduce interlace flicker' switch seems to control moire quite well without any noticeable blur.
