You click on this green thingy in the event itself; fx window will pop.
You then select the effect in question by clicking on it's box in the top of window and go click on this red "X" on the right. The effect will be removed.

adding non real-time effects to an audio event creates a new file and adds it over the existing event as a take.

look up 'takes' in the help file on how to switch back to the original.

or if you can't be bothered select the event and hit 't' until you get back to the original.

having names displayed in events helps for this kind of workflow (set this on or off in the program preferences)

If you accidently overwrote the origional file with the rendered audio file, then i'm sorry to say you're SOL. :(

By default it just adds "take #" to the end of the filename.
