How do you use MPEG4 in Vegas?

Hi,

Can anyone suggest a way to transfer an MPEG4 encoded video to DV for output to tape? I have a short MPEG4 clip which will play in Windows Media player, but I can't seem to import it into Vegas Video for re rendering. All I seem to get in Vegas is the audio stream.

The properties of the file says,
Video compression: MS-MPEG4 V3
Audio format : MPEG Layer-3

Any suggestions?

VV is supposed to handle ASF/WMV but it is a highly compressed format and isn't very editor friendly. the best bet I think is to find another tool that can convert it into an uncompressed AVI or a DV AVI. someone said they had luck with MS Movie Maker of all things. I'm not sure but Media Cleaner Pro might have the capability you need. it's worth looking into...
