Two things I see wrong with this camera:
1) Don't see how it'll handle follow focus gear.
2) If you plan on shoot weddings with it you can only charge half the price of the other guys who shoot on S-VHS cause your cameras only half the size :)
Actually that mightn't be as funny as it sounds.
Bob.
PS according to the local news this morning there's already a few in private hands in Australia, bought in Japan. So the Beast is already amongst us, love it or hate it one things for sure, it's going to change things. I haven't been in this game that long despite my age but I'd imagine when DV25 first came out the reaction wasn't that different.
I believe the bottleneck is in decoding the video (CPU). The laptop is 3.2Ghz, but it doesn't FEEL like it that's for sure!
I have heard from people trying to play HD-WM9-DVDs that the main culprit is video ram. 128MB is needed for smooth, consistent playback. 64 is not enough.

Thanks I'll definitely look in that direction. I had read that on the MS site but for some reason I didn't believe it. I always thought video ram was mostly used for 3d. I figured beyond maybe setting up a triple buffer for the video overlay, the rest of the RAM was sitting idle. But it makes sense since the CPU utilization isn't topping out at 100% on the laptop... (I had figured it was some inefficiency due to HT.)
