How much for professional pressing and labeling of DVDs

I had orignally thought I would burn and label my own project discs once I get to market, however, I am not 100% satisfied with the look and it seems to lack a pro touch this way. The alternative is to get them pressed and labeled at a pro studio.

What would you expect to pay per disc for this? Do you think it is worth it?

Pay about a little over a buck a DVD for duplicated print-on DVDs. Expect twice that for replicated DVDs in an Amaray case. Plus, replications will usually only be done in runs of 1000 pieces, so duplicated is the way to go. Not quite as nice looking, but close.
If you are running a lot of them, consider a home duplicator with built in printer. Cost you a little over 1k for a cheap one.

Home duplicator? I didnt know such a thing existed.

Spot, do you have a link to this piece of equipment?

Is this a stand alone burner or an actual pressing machine. it doesnt say. Also, it doesn't indicate if it does labelling like the pro discs.

www.discmakers.com has good prices on the services you mentioned.

Duplicators typically burn the disc and ink-jet the graphics.

Pro DVD's are replicated (pressed) and then silk-screened.

It depends on how many your talking here. I Have been burning my own dvd's professionally with a an EPson R200 that takes printable DVD's in a tray from artwork I designed in photoshop. I use eithe the DVA burning engine or Nero, which is faster. This has worked well for low production runs. If your talking quantity For best results especially if u have any photos in ur art work Offset is the best print process on DVD's but minimum quanitities can me up to 2000. Silk Screen is ok if you have graphics but the best it can get in resoution is 100dpi. Houses like Allied Vaughn Duplium are good for contacting for format. They have specific templates
Good luck

Check out www.1stopmediaship.com and select DVD, then Replication. Their site has a few different prices (1,000 DVD's "replicated" with cases and labels for $1.59 each, 100 DVD's "duplicated" with labels for $3.59 each).

This site recommends replication over duplication at 500 or more (where the price point crosses over).

I've received their specials for 1,000 DVDs with silkscreen labels for $800.

anyone try www.customflix.com ?

they look good, haven't tried but they're my first choice so far, unless anyone has any better vendors? their pricing + overall structure, though more geared for newbies, looks to be decent. but then again, I haven't been a customer. have any of you? feedback?

thx,
