How other latin alphabet letters can be used?

Hi to all!
I'm very happy with my Vegas 5 and I become happier as long as I learn something new about it...

My question is how the other latin alphabet characters can be used?
For example, if I choose "mistral" it is ok! It recognizes all the letters in Turkish alphabet but if I chose "bradly" it does not accept "ü"s or "ö"s :)

Thanks in advance to all....

This is not a Vegas issue, but a Windows issue. The question is how can I use non-standard characters in Windows. One way is to look up the Unicode code for these and enter that in Windows. I think you have press ALT first.

An easier way is to use the Windows character map. This will in your start menu under accessories>System Map. At least that's where it is for me on XP. Open up the character map and enter the font you are using. You then can scroll through and find many nonstandard characters. You just copy and paste this to the Text Generator in Vegas.

Search this board for character map to find alternate ways of entering these.

A simple way to get at and copy extended characters is to click on Windows Start / Run and type "charmap" into the dialogue box. Leave the character map tool running in conjunction with Vegas while you need it.

Many fonts only support the ASCII character set, and some fonts only a limited subset of that. I have some free display fonts in my library that lack lower-case letters and most punctuation.

If you can't get the characters you're looking for, they're probably not there.

jeremyk is right. Disappointingly many of the free fonts floating around the net only have the 26 letters many Americans think are The Alphabet. This is partly made up for by the fact that the vast majority of the said fonts are so ugly and/or useless that it does not really matter what characters they have or have not.

The Microsoft font have all the characters they should have (and they are well crafted - good for most use in video).

Instead of just looking all the time for something different in fonts, try to develop a style or a method. That way just a few good fonts can cover all your everyday needs. Then you could justify paying for really good fonts (Just don't get this forum started on what that is).
