How some others perceive Vegas

Using the "Girl you date, girl you marry" analogy, I'd say looks really do matter, because you usually date before you marry.

And if you married a snaggletoothed troll or troll-ess what are the odds you won't flirt with all the pretty little things that come along.

Do you want to take the snaggletoothed troll out in public?

Okay, Vegas isn't ugly, Just plain and dresses in overalls. Cosmetically, it might be nice if it could dress up a little, suck in its gut, comb it's hair, go to the gym. But it still needs to get out there and pound some nails without breaking nails.

Does anybody have a screenshot of Vegas 8 with a preview window? Somebody mentioned that earlier in this thread and I'd be interested to see it.

It's the same playback window that you've always seen. Nothing new or special.

Regarding...

"The one thing I like about Avid and Final Cut is a seperate monitor screen for preview of source video. I like having the master screen and the preview screen

"You can get that with VP8.
"Go in internal preference and set "Trimmer Single Frame" to TRUE.
"You have to uncheck "Show Video In Preview Windows" too (right click the Trimmer)"

...where is the Trimmer Single Frame setting? What are "internal preferences"?

hold shift before opening preferences and a new tab will be there called internal preferences.

The vegas source window is the trimmer but the internal preference set to single frame view.
It is a great way to slog through video. I wish someone would have shown me sooner.

Bigrock syas:
"There's been some talk about Vegas over on the Pinnacle Liquid forum recently. I just thought I would let you see some of the comments made about Vegas on the Pinnacle Liquid forum."
==============================================================

It's just freaking hilarious reading through some of that "Deal breaker" thread over there!

Some are hoping that the UI won't change... others are hoping the new program opens the old liquid projects. They just don't seem to get it... Liquid is being DISCONTINUED... as in dead, deceased, over, finished, complete and done with.

They don't discontinue a product just to create another that is a carbon copy of the discontinued one!!?! Pinnacle has already clearly stated that the new program will NOT have things like 10 bit color space, network rendering... and all those other things. They want the 10 million + studio users to eventually graduate on to other Avid products so this new program... if it ever comes out.... will be much closer to studio than any of them will like.... I'm just so amazed that these people are so wrapped up in themselves that they can't see this coming!!!

I just checked and it's not an option in the internal preferences in v7. Interesting.

i like to do basic editing in premiere or final cut...i like the double monitor approach...have tried the vegas single frame trimmer view but just not the same...but i like to assemble and do everything else in vegas...the timeline and the overall functions have just always made sense to me and it is a comfort level...especially coming from an audio multitrack background...
